Former Louisville star Reid Detmers throws no-hitter for Los Angeles Angels

Former Louisville star pitcher Reid Detmers made MLB history on Tuesday night on Tuesday night in Los Angeles.

He threw a no-hitter against the Tampa Bay Rays, becoming the youngest MLB pitcher to do so since Anibal Sanchez in 2006. It was also the 12th no-hitter in Angels franchise history.

Detmers is in the midst of an impressive rookie season. Tuesday night’s outing lowered his ERA to 3.77 on the year. He entered this campaign as one of the top left-handed pitching prospects in all of baseball.

is 3 seasons at Louisville. He was named ACC Pitcher of the Year in 2019 as a sophomore. He would have had a chance to repeat as a junior in 2020 if not for the pandemic.

He quickly rose through the Angels system and debuted with the big league club in 2021 — just over a year after he was selected in the first round of the MLB Draft.
