Kenny Payne and the Louisville Cardinals have not gotten out to the best start in coaching history this season.
The Cardinals are 3-20 on the year with horrible losses to Bellarmine, Wright State and Lipscomb, to name a few. They’re also 1-11 in conference play.
Regardless, the Cardinals fans are packing the KFC Yum! Center and and cheering on their team. That’s not something every 3-20 team in the country can say. After all, Louisville is one of the better college basketball programs all-time and getting the Cardinals back to prominence is of utmost importance.
Payne acknowledged that passion this past week:
“I think our fans have been great,” Payne said. “I love the energy in the gym, in the arena. Especially when we’re playing well. And I love the fact that when we don’t play that well, we can hear it high, booing, whatever. I like that, there’s a mentality we’re trying to change… We have an obligation to make these people happy.”
You can hear the rest of Payne’s comments below.
