Louisville cruised to a 24-7 win over Cincinnati in the Fenway Bowl on Saturday afternoon.

The Cardinals’ offense didn’t do much in the second half, but an impressive defensive performance was enough to secure the win.

Louisville’s defense combined for 7 sacks, 10 tackles for loss and 3 forced fumbles. Cincinnati quarterback Evan Prater threw for just 83 yards on the day.

The Bearcats had even less success rushing the ball. As a team, Cincy rushed for 1.4 yards per carry. It managed just 138 yards of total offense in the game.

Offensively for Louisville, the Cardinals got plenty of production from their running game. Freshman Maurice Turner led the way with 160 yards. Jawhar Jordan had 115 yards of his own, plus 2 touchdowns.

Louisville’s win gives the Cardinals its 8th win of the season. This is their first 8-win campaign since 2019. It also gives the program a bit of revenge after coach Scott Satterfield left for the Cincinnati job earlier this month.

Deion Branch served as Louisville’s interim coach for this game, becoming the first Super Bowl MVP to ever lead a college football program. Jeff Brohm will now take over head coaching duties at Louisville.
