Louisville and Kentucky are set to meet for the 35th time on Saturday as their Governor’s Cup rivalry is renewed. Before the game, though, Cardinal and Wildcat players had a little back-and-forth with each other.

A couple of media members on hand for the game at L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium in Louisville — Kentucky Sports Radio’s Nick Roush and Louisville Report’s Matt McGavic — caught video of players from both sides gathering between the Cardinals’ midfield logo and the 45-yard line. Fortunately, things didn’t escalate further as cooler heads eventually prevailed.

As far as the game itself, Louisville has dropped the last 4 meetings between the 2 programs. However, the Cardinals, ranked No. 10 in the College Football Playoff rankings, has its most wins since 2013 at 10-1 and can claim its 1st-ever New Year’s 6 appearance in the CFP era with a victory on Saturday.

We’ll see if tensions escalate during the course of the game. Kickoff from L&N Stadium in Louisville is set for noon ET. The game will be televised on ABC.
