Louisville has its quarterback for the 2024 season.

Former Texas Tech and Oregon quarterback Tyler Shough has committed to the Cardinals. The 2024 campaign will be his 7th and final season in college football.

Here’s his announcement:

Shough has battled injuries throughout his college career, which began all the way back in 2018.

Shough spent the first 3 seasons of his collegiate career at Oregon. He transferred to Texas Tech ahead of the 2021 season and has been the Red Raiders’ primary option at quarterback — when healthy — since arriving in Lubbock.

Last season, he played in 4 games for the Red Raiders. He completed 60.4% of his passes for 746 yards, 7 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. He had season-ending surgery back in September.

It’s unclear what this commitment will mean for Pierce Clarkson, the former 4-star recruit in Louisville’s 2023 signing class. Clarkson was a big recruiting win for the Cardinals when he signed with the program out of St. John Bosco High School in California.

Louisville will face USC in the Holiday Bowl to close out the 2023 season.
