Louisville officially retired the No. 8 jersey of former Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson on Saturday afternoon.
Jackson was on hand for an emotional ceremony that took place during the Cardinals’ game vs. Syracuse. Louisville blew out the Orange, winning 41-3 on Jackson’s big day.

Jackson is one of two players in Louisville history to have this honor, joining legendary quarterback Johnny Unitas.
Jackson won the Heisman Trophy in 2016, the first player in Louisville history to accomplish that feat. He threw for 3,540 yards and 30 touchdown passes that season. He also rushed for a staggering 1,571 yards and 21 touchdowns as Louisville went 9-4.
In Saturday’s game vs. Syracuse, quarterback Malik Cunningham did his best Jackson impression. He scored 5 total touchdowns (4 passing, 1 rushing), including 4 of them before the mid-way point of the second quarter.
Louisville is now 5-5 on the season and will have a good chance to clinch bowl eligibility next week vs. Duke.
