Louisville, Rick Pitino learn punishments in NCAA infractions case
Louisville’s men’s basketball program and former head coach Rick Pitino have avoided major penalties from the NCAA after a years-long investigation.
The Independent Accountability Resolution Process (IARP) announced its list of punishments for Pitino and the Cardinals on Saturday. No postseason ban is included and Pitino was cleared of any wrongdoing.
The punishments include a $5,000 fine for Louisville, a reduction in recruiting days a two-year probation period for the program.

This infractions case was related to a number of alleged recruiting violations by the NCAA, most notably in the recruitment of former 5-star prospect Brian Bowen.
Pitino is scheduled to hold a press conference at 12 p.m.
Former Louisville coach Chris Mack was also cleared of any infractions. The Cardinals parted ways with Mack last season and replaced him with Kenny Payne.
Louisville begins the 2022-23 season against Bellarmine on Nov. 9.
