Louisville stuns No. 10 Wake Forest with 35-point outburst in third quarter

Louisville picked up a massive win over No. 10 Wake Forest on Saturday afternoon.

The Cardinals trailed 14-13 at the half, but exploded for 35 unanswered points in the third quarter. They ended up winning the game, 48-21.

That third-quarter outburst was powered by an a

stounding six turnovers from Wake Forest. Quarterback Sam Hartman committed five of them — two interceptions and three fumbles on five consecutive drives to start the second half.

It was a dominant performance for a Louisville defense that has specialized in rushing the passer all season long.

Running back Tiyon Evans was also dominant. He needed just 11 carries to get to 106 yards and one touchdown. Malik Cunningham was solid as he battled through injuries, rushing for two scores of his own.

The win is a crucial one for Scott Satterfield and t

he Cardinals. Satterfield was on the hot seat as recently as a few weeks ago, but Louisville is now 5-3 on the year and seems destined for bowl eligibility.

Louisville has won five of its last games. The only exceptions? A one-point loss to Boston College where Cunningham was unable to finish the game due to injury and a devastating 35-31 defeat to Florida State back in September.

With a highly-touted recruiting class coming in, Satterfield seems to have the Cardinals trending in the right direction. Louisville can clinch bowl eligibility next week against James Madison.
