Run of the year? Malik Cunningham dazzles Duke defenders on 72-yard TD run

Duke never had a chance.

Louisville quarterback Malik Cunningham was dominant in the first half of the Cardinals’ meeting with the Blue Devils on Thursday night.

He finished the half with 189 passing yards, 178 rushing yards and 4 total touchdowns. That was enough to give Louisville a 35-9 lead at the break.

Cunningham’s best run of the night is one you’ll be seeing on Louisville highlight tapes for years to come. Facing 1st and 20, Cunningham ran to his left, made two tacklers miss at the line of scrimmage, cut back to his right, then left again, then right again — and then, finally, exploded up the right sideline and into the end zone.

Here’s the play:

That’s as good of a run as you’ll see all season long.

Assuming Louisville is able to finish this off, the Cardinals will be 6-5 on the year and will have reached bowl eligibility. Meanwhile, Duke has been non-competitive for most of the year and will fall to 3-8 with the loss.
