Trentyn Flowers was originally a 5-star recruit and one of the top hoops prospects in the country for the class of 2024. On Friday, he announced an ACC commitment and his plans to reclassify.

In a 247 Sports interview, Flowers announced his commitment to Louisville over offers from Alabama, Memphis, Creighton and Georgia State, among others. Flowers also revealed he’ll be reclassifying to the class of 2023 and graduating from high school this May.

Listed at 6-foot-8 and 210 pounds, Flowers is a 5-star small forward out of Combine Academy in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was rated the No. 20 player in the country and 2nd overall player out of North Carolina for the 2024 recruiting class.

Flowers’ decision gives Louisville a major addition to a 2023 recruiting class that already ranked 12th nationally by the 247 Sports Team Composite Rankings. Three of Louisville’s previous commitments in the cycle were rated as top 70 players for the cycle.

We’ll see how Flowers fits into the picture as a true freshman after joining the Cardinals a year earlier than expected.
