Miami is getting a visit from 5-star defensive line prospect David Hicks Jr. this weekend.

Hicks finalized those plans with a hype video for his visit on Tuesday evening:

Simply put, Hicks is an elite prospect in the class of 2023. He currently ranks No. 5 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 1 defensive lineman in the class and the No. 1 player from the state of Texas.

Hicks is listed at 6-foot-4, 270 pounds. He’s originally from Katy, Texas, which is near Houston.

There will be steep competition for Hicks’ final signature, but the Canes appear to be in a good spot. Getting 1 of his 5 official visits is a major victory. He already took an unofficial visit to Miami for the Canes’ junior day back in March, so this will be his second time to see Miami’s campus and facilities.

Hicks is coming off a visit to Michigan State last weekend. He’s also scheduled to visit Oregon later in June. It’s currently unclear which programs will get his 2 final official visits.

Miami is off to a solid start in the class of 2023, considering the coaching change. Mario Cristobal has already landed 5 commitments in this cycle.
