Of every team in the ACC, Miami’s 2022 recruiting class could be the group that changes the most between mid-October and the Early Signing Period in December.

The Hurricanes currently have just eight commitments, albeit five of them are 4-star prospects. Still, they have a lot of work to do to build out this class between now and then.

The biggest element this class does currently have is quality at the top. Five 4-star prospects puts this class much closer to the top of the ACC’s ranking than where it currently sits at No. 11. However, the Hurricanes will have to add depth to this group in the coming months if this class is going to make it into the top 25.

Here’s a breakdown of where the class currently sits:

Class ranking: No. 11 ACC, No. 59 nationally

Total commits: 8

Blue-chip commits (4-and-5-star prospects): 5

Highest-rated offensive player: 4-star WR Isaiah Horton | No. 254 overall | No. 39 WR | Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Highest-rated defensive player: 4-star CB Khamauri Rogers | No. 72 overall | No. 10 CB | Lexington, Miss.

Final thoughts: This is Manny Diaz’s third recruiting cycle since taking over. His previous two classes landed in the top three of ACC rankings, so perhaps patience is warranted here. Still, Miami hasn’t earned a commitment since August 11 and the Early Signing Period will be here in a matter of weeks.
