Cavinder twins respond to Miami receiving NCAA sanctions in post on social media
The Cavinder twins were one of the key off-season storylines in women’s basketball this past year. After starring at Fresno State to begin their careers, Haley and Hanna transferred to Miami for the 2022-23 season.
Unfortunately, the path for the Cavinder’s to the Hurricanes came under NCAA scrutiny and eventually led to recent sanctions for Miami’s women’s hoops program. The Level II violations are related to coach Katie Meier organizing a dinner between the Cavinder’s and Hurricane booster John Ruiz.
Ruiz has heavily criticized the NCAA for the sanctions leveled against Miami, and the Cavinder’s released a brief social media post directed at the NCAA early Saturday morning. “dear ncaa, scared that female athletes have value? let’s hoop tho,” the caption reads.

Together, the Cavinder twins have averaged over 47 minutes per game for the Hurricanes. Haley is the team’s leading scorer this season, averaging 12.9 points per game while shooting 41.3% from 3-point range.
We’ll see if the NCAA has anything in terms of a response ready for the Cavinder’s following their pointed post on social media.
