ESPN’s Chris “The Bear” Fallica was surprised to see Miami open as a 5-point favorite over North Carolina this week.

On an episode of Always College Football this week, Fallica expressed his initial shock about that betting line.

“I was shocked that Miami was … a 5, 5.5-point favorite earlier in the week,” Fallica said, noting that the spread is now down to 3.5 points. “I couldn’t believe it. I’m like, ‘how is this team favored?'”

Fallica did note that Miami’s offense could be better this week as players like Henry Parrish and Jacolby George recover from injuries.

Miami is coming out of a much-needed bye week that followed back-to-back losses to Middle Tennessee and Texas A&M. The loss to the Blue Raiders saw quarterback Tyler Van Dyke get benched. Miami’s defense was also leaky, giving up multiple long touchdowns to Middle Tennessee’s offense.

On the other side, North Carolina enters this game with one of the most explosive offenses in the country but a defense that has had its challenges so far this year. UNC was great last week, however, against a dreadful Virginia Tech offense. The Hokies managed just 3.9 yards per play vs. UNC.

This game has major stakes, with the winner perhaps taking control of the ACC Coastal race. Pittsburgh was the favorite to win this division before its loss to Georgia Tech last weekend.

Kickoff is at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday.
