Colorado reportedly in contact with 5-star Miami commit Cormani McClain
Colorado has emerged as a contender to flip 5-star recruit Cormani McClain from Miami, per 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong.
McClain was expected to announce his commitment to Miami on Wednesday, but his mother announced a change of plans. In a Twitter post, McClain’s mother, Tikisha White, revealed that there would be a delay in her son’s official signing.
Here is Wiltfong’s report:
DEVELOPING: Deion Sanders and Colorado are in contact with Miami 5-star commit Cormani McClain — the No. 1 CB recruit in the Class of 2023 — who is no longer signing Wednesday, per @SWiltfong247.https://t.co/mDtKi80QGc #SigningDay pic.twitter.com/Bjwu3G1Sve

Colorado’s presence adds an extra wrinkle to McClain’s recruitment process. Since Deion Sanders took over as Colorado’s head coach in early December, the Buffaloes have been aggressive in bringing in recruits and transfers to Boulder.
If Sanders can bring McClain to Colorado, it would not be the 1st time he flipped a 5-star recruit. In 2021, former No. 1 overall recruit Travis Hunter flipped from Florida State to Jackson State during the Early Signing Period.
McClain initially committed to Miami in the fall and he chose the Hurricanes over Florida and several other schools. If McClain flips from Miami, it would certainly hurt its 2023 recruiting class standings. Miami currently has No. 3 recruiting class in 2023, according to 247Sports.
The Early Signing Period started on Wednesday.
