ESPN analyst predicts Miami will land 4-star cornerback, legacy prospect

ESPN college football writer Tom VanHaaren is predicting Miami will land the commitment of 4-star cornerback Damari Brown.

If this prediction comes true, Miami would receive a huge boost in the p

rogram’s recruiting class for the 2023 season. VanHaaren explained why Brown will likely choose Miami as his college football home.

“His recruitment has been close to the vest, but it seems Alabama and Miami have been going back and forth for his commitment. This could go to either school, but the Hurricanes have picked up six ESPN 300 commitments since Nov. 29, and Brown’s father played for Miami, so it certainly is possible he also follows the path to Coral Gables.”

VanHaaren referenced Brown’s direct connection Miami. Brown’s father, Selwyn Brown, played for the Hurricanes from 1984 to 1987. This connection could help the Canes in his recruitment down the stretch.

Brown is a 4-star recruit from Florida and the No. 22 cornerback in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Brown is the No. 42 ranked recruit in Florida and is ranked No. 185 nationally. His commitment will likely come down to Miami and Alabama in the final days before he will make his commitment.

247Sports has Miami currently ranked as the No. 3 overall recruiting class in 2023.

The Early Signing Period begins on Wednesday.
