Former Miami WR Key'Shawn Smith announces transfer destination
Former Miami wide receiver Key’Shawn Smith announced that he will transfer to SMU for the 2023 season.
Smith has been with Miami since 2020 and will be leaving the program after his 3rd season. Smith entered the transfer portal at the end of the regular season and will be reunited with several teammates and coaches at SMU.

SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee was previously Miami’s offensive coordinator from 2020 to 2021. Smith worked directly with Lashlee for 2 seasons and will be reunited for a 3rd season together.
For the 2023 season, SMU received commitments from several Miami players in the transfer portal. Miami running back Jaylan Knighton and defensive lineman Elijah Roberts also committed to SMU at the end of this season.
In 2022, Smith finished the season with 13 receptions, 199 receiving yards, and 2 touchdowns. Smith played in 8 games and made 3 starts during the season. His season high in receptions and receiving yards came against Middle Tennessee when he had 4 catches for 81 yards.
In 3 seasons at Miami, Smith compiled 48 receptions, 662 receiving yards, and 5 receiving touchdowns. He appeared in 29 games and made 15 starts. In 2021, he started in all 12 of Miami’s games in the season.
Smith will get ready throughout the offseason to make his debut for SMU.
