Jordan Miller matches Christian Laettner with perfect outing in Elite Eight victory

Jordan Miller made history on Sunday night in the Elite Eight.

Miller scored 27 points and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field and 13-of-13 from the free throw line in Miami’s victory over Texas.

According to CBS Sports, no player has been perfect in a NCAA Tournament game since Duke’s Christian Laettner in 1992.

Laettner scored 31 points in that game, including his famous buzzer-beater to send the Blue Devils to the Final Four. He was 10-of-10 from the field and 9-of-9 from the free throw line.

Miller was sensational for the Canes, especially in the 2nd half. He went 12-of-12 from the charity stripe after halftime and helped the Hurricanes overcome a big 2nd half deficit.

As a team, Miami shot very well from the foul line. The Canes made 28-of-32 free throw attempts overall and 25-of-27 in the 2nd half alone.

Miami’s 4 other starters also scored in double figures: Wooga Poplar (16), Nijel Pack (15), Isaiah Wong (14) and Norchad Omier (11).

Miami will face UConn in the Final Four on Saturday. Florida Atlantic and San Diego State will battle in the other semifinal. Tipoff of Miami-UConn is scheduled for 8:49 p.m. ET on Saturday.
