Josh Gattis is out at Miami.

Mario Cristobal is looking for a new offensive coordinator as UM announced the dismissal of Gattis on Friday morning.

Gattis joined Cristobal’s first Miami staff in February 2022 after spending the previous 3 seasons at Michigan (2019-21), including winning the Broyles Award for 2021. Gattis and Cristobal had previously worked together at Alabama in 2018.

In 2022, UM struggled on offense throughout a 5-7 season. Nationally, Miami ranked No. 81 in FEI offensive efficiency rankings. The Hurricanes were No. 97 in scoring offense, averaging 23.6 points per game. Gattis’ Michigan offense averaged 35.8 points in 2021, leading the Wolverines to a Big Ten title and a trip to the College Football Playoff.

Gattis, 39, was a 5th-round NFL Draft pick in 2007 out of Wake Forest. He got into coaching in 2010 as a graduate assistant at North Carolina.

Last week, Miami QB coach Frank Ponce left to return to App State as offensive coordinator.
