Josh Gattis, former Miami OC, lands job on Big Ten coaching staff

Josh Gattis is headed back to the Big Ten.

Gattis has been hired as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Maryland. He reunites with Mike Locksley, who spent time together on Alabama’s coaching staff.

Locksley and Gattis were co-offensive coordinators for the Crimson Tide in 2018.

Here’s the announcement:

Gattis spent just 1 year at Miami before the program decided to move in a different direction earlier this offseason. The Canes’ offense never got going in 2022, finishing 9th in the ACC in y

ards per play.

Prior to his arrival at Miami, Gattis won the Broyles Award as the nation’s top assistant coach in 2021 while he was Michigan’s offensive coordinator. He now returns to the Big Ten East and will be calling plays for veteran quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa.

Miami replaced Gattis earlier this offseason with former Houston offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson.
