Kirk Herbstreit’s weekly list of top-performing coaches was released on Monday, and an ACC coach was among those who received a nod from the ESPN personality.

Coming in at No. 2 on Herbstreit’s list was Miami head coach Mario Cristobal. The Hurricanes are now 2-0 after a 48-33 win over Texas A&M at Hard Rock Stadium.

Tyler Van Dyke threw 1 touchdown pass in the Canes’ season opener against Miami (Oh.). Against the Aggies, he had 5 touchdown passes versus 0 interceptions.

The 2022 season was nothing short of disappointing for Cristobal as he took the reins of the Miami program after 5 seasons and a 35-13 record at Oregon. The Canes finished 5-7 and were not selected for a postseason bowl after their 2nd losing campaign in 4 years. With a win over the Aggies in his rearview mirror, though, he’ll look to lead the Canes toward the top of the ACC and the national conversation.

Miami returns to action on Thursday as it takes on Bethune-Cookman in Miami Gardens.
