Mario Cristobal gave a brief update on injured safety Kam Kinchens on Monday.

Kinchens suffered a scary injury late in Miami’s win over Texas A&M back in Week 2. He was transported to the hospital for evaluation and Miami later received positive news on his condition.

However, it remains unclear when Kinchens will be able to return to Miami’s defense. He did not play in the Hurricanes’ Week 3 win over Bethune-Cookman on Thursday.

Cristobal said Kinchens is continuing to make progress.

“He’s doing well,” Cristobal said. “All the guys who were not available for this game are on the mend.”

Miami has one final nonconference game this weekend against Temple. The Hurricanes will travel to Philadelphia for their first road game of the season.

Kinchens is one of Miami’s best players on either side of the ball. An All-American in 2022, Kinchens recorded an interception vs. Texas A&M before leaving the game with the injury.

Cristobal said he would provide another update on Kinchens and other injured players later in this week.
