Mario Cristobal teases Miami’s new facility upgrades: ‘You should see the renderings’

Miami is in the midst of planning for a multi-million dollar upgrade to its football facilities.

That commitment is part of a larger re-investment that Miami has made into its program in recent months. Of course, that also includes the hirings of coach Mario Cristobal and athletic director Dan Radakovich.

Cristobal expressed excitement when he was asked about the plans earlier this week.

“You should see the renderings,” Cristobal said on the Hurricane Hotline, via 247Sports

. “We are already clearing out the areas and finalizing some things as we move forward. It is moving really fast.”

According to InsideTheU’s David Lake, the facility upgrade will cost around $100 million to complete.

This could be a game-change for Miami, whose facilities have lagged behind the rest of college football’s elite in recent years. Committing to upgrades — and Cristobal — could go a long way toward getting the Hurricanes back into national title contention.

Cristobal has already alluded to some changes that need to be made.

“I guess the best way to put it in perspective is that when everything was even, Miami was dominating the college football world,” Cristobal told ESPN earlier this offseason. “Then other places started investing a lot, and Miami had fallen away behind. So that’s where there became a gap.”

Miami opens the 2022 season vs. Bethune-Cookman.
