Miami defensive back Avantae Williams caused a bit of a stir over the weekend when he removed all Miami-related photos from his Instagram account.

Williams, a former 4-star recruit, hasn’t received much playing time early on in the season.

However, a sit-down with coach Mario Cristobal this weekend appears to have smoothed over any issues. Williams remains with Miami as it prepares to face Texas A&M in Week 3.

Cristobal addressed the situation at his weekly press conference on Monday.

“We’re always going to be straightforward and blunt and honest,” Cristobal said of his meeting with Williams, via The Miami Herald. “We’re not going to create drama or narratives. That just ain’t it. I’m not going to have that here.

“He’s a good young man and we’ve got to get to work and continue to get better and better. And he wants to be good. He’s got a really, really bright future. We’re going to choose not to create narratives and drama out there in our program.”

Cristobal said his relationship with Williams goes back to his time as Oregon’s head coach. Williams was the No. 45 overall player in the class of 2020, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
