Miami 5-star commit Cormani McClain delays signing ceremony

Miami 5-star commitment Cormani McClain will not be signing his national letter of intent on Wednesday.

In a Twitter post that was shared Wednesday morning, McClain’s mother, Tikisha White, announced that McClain would not officially sign Miami on Early Signing Day. This delay came as a surprise for some people who expected McClain to sign with the Hurricanes on Wednesday. It also contradicts a previous announcement from White that McClain would be signing on Wednesday.

He originally chose Miami over Florida and Miami back in the fall.

McClain, a 5-star cornerback from Florida, is the No. 1 cornerback in the country and the No. 1 recruit in the state, according t

o 247Sports Composite rankings. He was an integral part of Miami’s recruiting class as a 5-star recruit.

When McClain committed in October, he chose Miami over Alabama, Florida, Florida State, and Ohio State. With the delay in his signing, he could open up his recruitment and fall back to one of the teams he was recruited by.

Wednesday is the official start of the Early Signing Period for high school players in the 2023 recruiting class.
