Miami alum expected to become Canes’ next WR coach, per report

Miami is expected to hire Kevin Beard as its next wide receivers coach, according to a report.

That’s per FootballScoop’s John Brice, who notes that Beard played for Miami during his career. Most recently, Beard w

as on staff at Toledo from 2018-22.

Beard was a standout player for the Hurricanes from 2001-03. He had 409 yards and 2 touchdowns on Miami’s National Championship-winning team in 2001.

Perhaps his best game as a Miami player came against rival Florida in 2003. He caught 7 passes for 164 yards in a comeback victory over the Gators.

As a coach, Beard has been in college football since 2014. H

is previous experience includes another stint in Coral Gables as he was the program’s assistant director of Football Operations in 2014 and the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator in 2015.

Beard has also worked at Georgia and Tennessee during his career. He will replace Josh Gattis, who also served as Miami’s OC in 2022, as Miami’s WR coach.

Mario Cristobal is close to filling out his staff for the 2023 season.
