Miami announced 4 captains for its game against Bethune-Cookman on Saturday afternoon.

Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, defensive lineman Jahfari Harvey, receiver Xavier Restrepo and cornerback DJ Ivey will serve as captains in Mario Cristobal’s first game as Miami’s head coach.

Here’s the announcement:

Van Dyke returns this season as a potential All-ACC candidate at quarterback. He finished last season with 6 straight games of 300+ yards and 3+ touchdowns.

Harvey is a veteran defensive lineman who is coming off his best college season to date. He recorded 7 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and 1 interception in 2021.

Restrepo is a candidate to lead Miami in receiving yards this season. He can line up at receiver in a variety of formations and has received praise from the Canes’ coaching staff this season.

Cornerback DJ Ivey is part of one of the the best CB tandems in the ACC alongside Tyrique Stevenson. He has NFL upside if he performs well this season.
