Miami basketball linked to elite 3-point shooter in transfer portal

Miami basketball is 1 of 4 teams still in the mix for transfer shooting guard Cam Spencer, according to a report.

That’s per college basketball insider Jeff Goodman, who notes that Spencer is also set to visit UConn, UCLA and Oklahoma.

Spencer is one of the top 3-point shooters in the transfer portal. Last season at Rutgers, he made 43.4% of his 3-point tries on a volume of 4.9 attempts per game.

Spencer, listed at 6-foot-4, began his career at Loyola (MD). He played for the Greyhounds for 3 seasons before transferring to Rutgers ahead of the 2022-23 season. He owns a career 3-point p

ercentage of 40.5%.

Miami is coming off of its most successful season in program history. The Canes reached the Final Four for the first time ever in 2023 and should be competitive again next season.

Miami is returning key players such as guard Nijel Pack, guard Wooga Poplar and forward Norchad Omier. The Canes have also added another high-profile transfer in Matthew Cleveland.

There is no timetable for Spencer’s decision.
