Mario Cristobal and his staff scored another major recruiting win on Wednesday morning.

The Hurricanes picked up a commitment from 4-star linebacker Malik Bryant, who was also considering Florida, Alabama and several other top programs.

Here’s his announcement:

Bryant is nearing 5-star status. He’s currently the No. 61 overall player and the No. 4 linebacker in the country for the class of 2023, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 15 player from the state of Florida.

The Orlando native stuck with Miami even after temporarily delaying his commitment to presumably hear a final pitch from the Gators and other programs.

It’s another big win over Florida and Gators first-year head coach Billy Napier. Quarterback Jaden Rashada also chose the Canes over Florida earlier this summer.

Miami is now up to 15 commitments in the class of 2023. The Canes’ cycle ranks No. 7 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings. That puts Miami at No. 2 in the ACC behind only Clemson. However, the Canes may be only 1 commitment away from passing the Tigers and entering the top-5 of the national rankings.

Here are some highlights from Bryant’s junior season:
