Miami has landed a commitment from in-state edge rusher Booker Pickett Jr.

Pickett is a 4-star prospect out of Tampa (Fla.) Wharton from the 2024 class. The 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 16 edge rusher and No. 29 prospect in the state.

He picked the Hurricanes over Florida State and Ohio State. Other ACC schools that were interested in him included Georgia Tech, Louisville, North Carolina, Pitt, Syracuse, and Boston College.

Pickett is the third 2024 edge rusher to pick Miami alongside 4-star commits Marquise Lightfoot and Elias Rudolph.

The young edge rusher has been a problem at the high school level. In 3 years, he racked up 60 sacks. The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder had 30 sacks during his junior season with Wharton.

The Hurricanes face Clemson on Saturday as they look to end a two-game losing streak after consecutive losses to Georgia Tech and North Carolina.

Miami has been on a tear on the recruiting trail, though. Pickett’s verbal pledge gives Miami its 24th known commitment this cycle, and it’s a class that ranks in the top 10 nationally. You can see Pickett’s highlight tape below, via Hudl:
