Miami defeated Virginia in overtime on Saturday night.

The Hurricanes’ defense stepped up late in the contest with a pair of key stops. After Miami tied the game with a field goal, the Canes were able to force a Virginia punt with under 30 seconds remaining in regulation.

Then, Miami’s defense got a stop on UVA’s first possession in overtime, forcing a field goal. From there, the offense took over. Mark Fletcher Jr. ran it in from 11 yards out to secure the 29-26 victory.

Here’s replay of the game-winning TD:

This is Miami’s second straight overtime win in conference play. The Hurricanes were big favorites in this game, but had to squeeze out the OT victory against a Cavaliers team that defeated North Carolina a week ago in Chapel Hill.

Tyler Van Dyke returned to the lineup in this game. However, he struggled in this one as he threw 2 interceptions in the narrow victory. He threw for 163 yards on 30 attempts vs. the Cavaliers.

Miami is now 6-2 on the season and is officially bowl eligible. The Hurricanes are 2-2 in conference play and are still alive in the race for an ACC Championship Game berth.
