Miami benches Tyler Van Dyke vs. Middle Tennessee
Miami has benched starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke.
The Hurricanes are going to Jake Garcia midway through the 3rd quarter as they trail 31-10 to Middle Tennessee at home.
Fans cheered when Garcia ran out onto the field, per multiple reports.

Van Dyke was having a nightmare game. He threw 2 interceptions in the first 5 minutes of the contest, including one that was returned for a pick 6.
He also missed several open receivers and was not able to move the ball on Miami’s first 2 drives of the second half. He completed 16-of-32 passes for 138 yards before he was pulled.
Garcia was also a highly-touted prospect coming out of high school. He was a 4-star player in the class of 2021. He’s completed 20-of-23 passes for 250 yards, 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions in his career.
Miami entered this game as more than a 3-touchdown favorite over the Blue Raiders.
