Miami received its bowl destination and opponent on Sunday afternoon. The Hurricanes will face Rutgers in the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 28.

The game will be played at Yankee Stadium and is a 2:15 p.m. ET kickoff on ESPN.

The Scarlet Knights are bowl-bound for the 2nd time in 3 seasons under Greg Schiano in his 2nd stint as head coach. They became bowl-eligible with a 31-14 win at Indiana on Oct. 21, but enter the game on a 4-game losing streak against Ohio State, Iowa, Penn State, and Maryland.

Schiano, of course, is familiar with the Miami program: he was its defensive coordinator in 1999 and 2000 before being hired as Rutgers’ head coach for the 1st time.

The Hurricanes and Scarlet Knights have played each other 11 times, with the Canes taking all 11 meetings. The last game between the 2 former Big East schools was in 2003 as Miami defeated Rutgers at home 34-10.

This is Miami’s 1st bowl appearance since 2020: it was scheduled to play in the 2021 Sun Bowl but ultimately could not because of COVID-19 concerns. It finished 5-7 in 2022 and failed to qualify for a bowl.
