Miami cornerback DJ Ivey is going pro.
Ivey announced on Tuesday afternoon that he is leaving the program to enter the 2023 NFL Draft.
Here’s that announcement:
“It’s been a dream since peewee football to go do what I love at the highest level possible and it’s time for me to take that next step,” Ivey wrote.
Ivey just finished his fifth season at Miami and w
ill be difficult to replace. He was a multi-year starter for the Canes who recorded 5 interceptions and 11 pass deflections over the course of his career.
Miami could look toward the transfer portal to replace Ivey in the starting lineup next season. The Hurricanes also have a commitment from 5-star cornerback Cormani McClain, who could be in-line for some early playing time in 2023.
Ivey is the first Miami player so far to declare for the 2023 NFL Draft.
