Miami cornerback Al Blades Jr. is entering the transfer portal.

Blades announced that decision on Thursday afternoon:

Blades just wrapped up his fifth year with the Hurricanes. He was originally part of Miami’s 2018 recruiting class and was an elite prospect.

His history with the program goes back further, as he is the son of former Miami defensive back Al Blades Sr. His father played at Miami from 1996-2000 and made 258 career tackles for the Hurricanes.

Blades has stuck with Miami through multiple coaching changes, but will be moving on for his final year of college football. He leaves the program having made 91 tackles, four interceptions and 14 pass deflections in his career.

He’s one of numerous players who have already announced their intentions to enter the portal. Miami is expected to be aggressive in adding players via the portal this offseason.

The transfer portal officially opens on Dec. 5.
