Miami defeats Pitt to secure share of regular-season title, ACC Tournament top seed
For the first time since 2013, the Miami Hurricanes are ACC champions. UM claimed a share of the regular-season conference title Saturday with a 78-76 win over Pittsburgh.
Canes stormed the court at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables to celebrate the big win before Jim Larrañaga’s team cut the nets down.

Miami and Pittsburgh played close for 40 minutes. Neither team ever led by double digits. The Canes had the advantage for 31:10 of the game’s 40 minutes, leading by as many as 9 points.
Wooga Poplar led the way for UM with 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting from 3-point territory.

Miami is a co-ACC regular-season champion with Virginia, as both teams posted 15-5 records in conference play. The Hurricanes bested the Cavaliers head-to-head, giving UM the No. 1 seed in the ACC basketball tournament. The action begins on Tuesday in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Hurricanes will play Thursday against the winner of Wednesday’s 8/9 game.
