Miami defeated Virginia Tech 78-75 in Blacksburg on Wednesday night thanks to some late-game heroics from Charlie Moore.

Facing a tie game in the final seconds, Moore caught an inbounds pass on the run, made one dribble and then let it fly.

Bang.

Moore finished the game with 13 points and a team-high 6 assists. All five Miami starters scored in double figures.

Kameron McGusty led the way with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Jordan Miller also tacked on 18 points in the victory.

The win allows the Hurricanes to re-gain the No. 1 spot in the ACC with a 7-2 record. Florida State lost to Georgia Tech in Atlanta on Wednesday night and fell from first place to fifth place.

Duke, Notre Dame and Wake Forest are all a half game back from the Canes entering the weekend. North Carolina is tied with the Seminoles in fifth place with a 6-3 record.

Miami will put its first-place status on the line again this weekend vs. Georgia Tech.
