Miami defensive lineman enters transfer portal after 1 season

Miami defensive lineman Darrell Jackson Jr. is entering the transfer portal.

Jackson announced that decision on Monday afternoon.

“After praying and talking to family about this situation, I am happy to announce that I will be entering the transfer portal,” Jackson wrote.

This will be Jackson’s second transfer in two seasons, which means he will need a waiver from the NCAA in order to be eligible for next season. He previously played at Maryland.

Jackson was a solid addition for the Canes this season. He recorded 27 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks as a member of M

iami’s defensive line rotation.

He is originally from Havana, Fla. Miami will likely be active in trying to replace his production via the transfer portal this offseason. The Canes have already had more than 10 players enter the portal.

Miami is also building a strong recruiting class in Mario Cristobal’s first full cycle at the helm. Its 2023 class currently ranks No. 8 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
