Miami received a commitment on Monday from a top transfer portal CB target Davonte Brown.

Brown, a former three-star recruit, announced his departure from UCF earlier this month. After entering the transfer portal on Dec. 5, Brown also made an official visit to Tallahassee to check out the Florida State program. Although he was a top target for the Seminoles, Miami was able to secure the CB’s commitment.

Brown announced his decision on Twitter on Monday evening:

Brown played in 13 games for UCF, racking up 30 tackles, 2 interceptions, 4 pass deflections and 1 forced fumble this season. The CB previously turned down multiple offers from Pitt, West Virginia, North Carolina and others. Brown was also offered by Miami in 2019, but chose to turn down that offer in favor of UCF.

Miami is expected to remain active in the transfer portal this offseason. The Canes have also picked up a commitment from former Alabama offensive lineman Javion Cohen.

Brown’s father, Selwyn Brown, played at Miami in the 1980s.
