Miami managed to change Cole McConathy’s mind when it came to his commitment status on Wednesday.

McConathy was previously committed to Louisville, but jumped ship to the Hurricanes. He comes in at 6-foot-5, 225 pounds.

McConathy is a 3-star edge rusher out of Spanish Fort (Ala.) High. The 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 74 edge rusher and No. 44 Alabama prospect.

Multiple ACC programs have been competing for McConathy like Virginia, Duke, Georgia Tech, Pitt, and Wake Forest.

McConathy became the 4th edge rusher to pick Miami from the 2024 class. He joins 4-star commits Marquise Lightfoot, Booker Pickett Jr., and Elias Rudolph.

McConathy visited with many of his choices. Louisville hosted him on Jun. 2, he visited Missouri on Jun. 23, and Virginia on Jun. 9.

His stats for his high school team this past season were impressive. McConathy had 92 total tackles, 26.5 tackles for loss, and 16 sacks.
