Miami earned a signature from 4-star tight end prospect Jaleel Skinner on Friday afternoon, the final day of the Early Signing Period.

Skinner was previously committed to Alabama and was expected to sign with the Crimson Tide. Here’s Miami’s announcement:

This is a huge addition for Miami’s 2022 recruiting class. Skinner is the No. 98 overall player and the No. 3 tight end in the class of 2022, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Skinner is an IMG Academy product, which is a program that Mario Cristobal’s staff would love to turn into a consistent pipeline.

Miami now has nine signees in the class of 2022. The Hurricanes are expected to continue recruiting over the next several weeks with the goal of improving this class before National Signing Day on Feb. 2.

If Skinner is able to play right away, he could have a big role next season. The Hurricanes will be led by quarterback Tyler Van Dyke and running back Jaylan Knighton, but there will be targets available in the passing game. Receiver Charleston Rambo has already announced his intentions to enter the 2022 NFL Draft.

Miami faces Washington State in the Sun Bowl on Dec. 31.
