Miami now has the ACC’s top-ranked recruiting class for the 2023 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

The Canes have been lurking behind Clemson over the last few weeks, but finally jumped the Tigers over the weekend after they added 3-star offensive lineman Connor Lew.

Miami’s class is ranked No. 8 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. Clemson is still in the top-10, coming in at No. 9. Louisville at No. 20 is the next-closest team in the ACC.

Miami’s class is led by 5-star offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa. He’s the Canes’ only 5-star commitment as of early August, although Mario Cristobal’s staff is recruiting several other players in that tier. Miami also already has commitment from multiple top-100 players who could eventually reach 5-star status.

One of those players is 4-star EDGE prospect Jayden Wayne, who is the No. 43 overall player in 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s an IMG Academy product and the top-ranked defensive player in Miami’s 2023 class.

Coach Mario Cristobal said earlier this week that Miami is still 18-24 months away from being where it wants to be on the recruiting trail.

Overall, Miami has 17 commitments in the class of 2023. That’s the fewest number of commitments for any team in the top-10, which means the Canes’ ranking could rise even more as additional prospects join the fold.

The Early Signing Period begins in December.
