Miami pulled in several key transfer portal additions this past cycle, but none have been more impressive than defensive lineman Akheem Mesidor.

Mesidor is coming off of a 3.5-sack performance against Virginia Tech last weekend. He’s now up to 6 tackles for loss and 5 sacks on the season.

Performances like that are why Mesidor made The Athletic’s midseason all-transfer portal team, which was announced on Thursday afternoon.

Here’s some analysis from The Athletic’s Max Olson:

Mesidor joined the Hurricanes after two promising seasons at West Virginia and quickly proved to be one of their very best players. The versatile defensive lineman picked up national honors this week after racking up eight stops and 3.5 sacks to beat┬áVirginia Tech and now has 19 tackles, 17 pressures, six TFLs (five sacks) and three pass breakups on the year.”

Mesidor is one of just three ACC players who made the cut. Wake Forest defensive lineman Kobie Turner and Duke safety Darius Joiner also were named to the team.

Mesidor has been one of the most impactful players in the conference this season. He also has 19 total tackles and 3 pass deflections on the year.

Miami will face a tough Duke offense this week at Hard Rock Stadium. Kickoff is at 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
