Miami lands West Virginia CB transfer Daryl Porter
Miami picked up a major addition in the transfer portal on Thursday with the addition of cornerback Daryl Porter.
Porter spent the last two years at West Virginia. He didn’t play in 2020, but was a very good player for the Mountaineers in 2021. He totaled 46 tackles, 1 interception and 5 pass deflections.
Here’s Porter’s announcement:

Porter is a potential starter for the Hurricanes in 2022. Miami does return cornerbacks Tyrique Stevenson and Te’Cory Couch, amongst others.
The Hurricanes will be looking for major improvement on the defensive side of the ball in 2022. That unit struggled last season, but is now in position to make a difference under new defensive coordinator Kevin Steele.
Porter is Miami’s sixth transfer addition this offseason, but the first in the secondary. The Hurricanes are still pursuing UCLA transfer linebacker Mitchell Agude.
Miami will play its spring game on April 16.
