Miami landed a commitment from former Iowa defensive back Terry Roberts back in January. On Thursday, On3’s Matt Zenitz reported that Roberts has gone back into the transfer portal.

Roberts missed most of the 2022 season with an injury, appearing in just 4 games. During those appearances, though, he was one of the Hawkeyes’ better-graded players. Pro Football Focus gave him a 79.0 defensive grade and a 79.9 coverage grade in his 202 snaps. He was the seventh-highest-graded defender who saw the field for Iowa last season.

Across his 4-year college career, Roberts made 4 starts in 33 appearances and recorded 47 tackles to go with 5 pass breakups and 2 interceptions.

A 5-foot-10, 182-pound corner, Roberts was expected to back up Davonte Brown and Daryl Porter at corner. Brown is also a newcomer this offseason after transferring in from Central Florida.

Roberts was part of a 14-man transfer haul for the Hurricanes this offseason that ranked No. 6 nationally.

With his departure, coach Mario Cristobal may head back to the portal to find more help at the position.
