Miami makes final 3 for 5-star DL in class of 2022
Miami is in the mix for one of the top remaining uncommitted prospects in the class of 2022.
5-star defensive lineman Shemar Stewart released his top 5 on Thursday afternoon, and Miami made the cut alongside Georgia and Texas A&M.

Stewart is the No. 9 overall player in the class of 2022, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 3 defensive lineman and the No. 1 player in the state of Florida.
Mario Cristobal’s arrival at Miami should give the Hurricanes a legitimate chance of landing Stewart’s signature when he announces a decision on Feb. 2. Cristobal has the reputation of an elite recruiter and has done a good job of rebuilding Miami’s class in the first few weeks of his tenure.
Miami signed just eight players during the Early Signing Period, which significantly impacted its ranking. The Hurricanes are currently ranked at No. 61 nationally and No. 10 in the ACC, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
However, that has more to do with Miami’s lack of quantity than it does its quality. Seven of Miami’s eight signees are 4-star prospects, so there’s a reasonable path to the Hurricanes’ 2022 class reaching a much higher ranking.
That’s especially true if Cristobal and his staff can land players like Stewart in the coming weeks.
National Signing Day is on Feb. 2.
