Dawson, 45, arrives from Houston, where he had been the offensive coordinator on Dana Holgorsen’s staff since 2020. Dawson’s unit was No. 8 in passing this past season. Nathaniel Dell led the FBS in receiving touchdowns (17) and yards (1,398). QB Clayton Tune set the AAC’s single-season touchdown pass record with 40.
Dawson replaces Josh Gattis as Miami’s offensive coordinator. Quarterback coach Frank Ponce also left the UM staff to return to App State as offensive coordinator.
