Miami trailed 17-7 at the break against Duke, but quickly made up some ground early in the third quarter.

Backup quarterback Jake Garcia hit Colbie Young for a 71-yard TD pass early in the half.

Young caught the ball along the right sideline, broke a tackle and then won a foot race to the end zone.

Here’s the clip:

That was a big momentum-shifter in the game, as Miami trailed by 10 points at the half. It was also a confidence-booster for Garcia, who is playing in place of an injured Tyler Van Dyke.

Miami turned the ball over 4 times in the first half, which was a major reason for the Canes’ deficit at halftime. If Miami can hold on to the ball in the second half, it will have a good chance to beat the Blue Devils.

Miami is looking for its second consecutive win in the ACC after beating Virginia Tech last week. A win would put the Canes just one game behind North Carolina in the ACC Coastal race.
