Miami overcame a double-digit deficit to beat Wake Forest 76-72 in Winston-Salem on Saturday afternoon.

This is a huge win for the Hurricanes’ NCAA Tournament chances. They entered this weekend on the bubble after dropping games to Notre Dame and Virginia earlier this month.

Now, Miami has won two straight games and is 10-4 in ACC play. It is still in the hunt for the ACC regular season title.

Kameron McGusty and Isaiah Wong were the heroes vs. Wake Forest. That duo combined to score 44 points on just 28 shot attempts.

They scored Miami’s final nine points of the game, including a bucket from Wong that put the Canes up by 4 with just 11 seconds remaining. There was also a 3-pointer from McGusty that put the Canes up 5 with 1:30 to play:

Miami will still need a strong finish to the regular season in order to earn an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament. The good news is that it should be a manageable finish — KenPom is projecting Miami to go 5-1 down the stretch.

If that happens, the Canes would be 23-8 overall and 15-5 in conference play. That would likely be more than enough to earn a bid from the selection committee.

Miami faces Louisville on the road on Wednesday.
