Miami running back Jaylan Knighton announced on Tuesday morning that he will enter the transfer portal.

Knighton spent 3 seasons at Miami and he will be moving on from the program. In a Twitter post, he expressed gratitude for his time at Miami.

“After much conversation, I’ve made a decision to enter the transfer portal,” Knighton said. “I’ve made many long-lasting friendships at The U that will never be forgotten. For all that I’ve learned from every coach here, your teachings were not in vain and you are much appreciated.”

In the 2022 season, Knighton rushed for 423 yards and 1 rushing touchdown in 9 games. His lone rushing touchdown came against Georgia Tech on Nov. 12. In that game, he posted his season-high in rushing with 118 rushing yards. That was his only game this season over 100 rushing yards. Knighton played in 10 games for the Hurricanes in 2022.

In 3 seasons, Knighton ended his time at Miami with a total of 1,193 rushing yards and 10 total touchdowns. His best season at Miami came in 2021 when he rushed for 561 yards and 8 touchdowns. He will hope to have another season that mirrors his 2021 campaign on the ground.

Knighton will have 2 years of eligibility left in college football.
